LAKE AND VILLAGES

ISLANDS
The three islands, Polvese, Maggiore e Minore, whose last two can be visited, are the ideal place for a picnic in nature and in contact with the fauna on the island. Easily accessible by ferry from different communes in the area, they are a wonderful place for a family vacation and to relax in the company of friends away from the busy pace of the city. The Polvise Island is used as a center for environmental education.
During a stay in Umbria it is always enjoyable to rediscover the beauty of the fishing villages, as is the case at Isola Maggiore, and let yourself be amazed by the territories on which the footsteps of important characters, including St. Francis, have passed.
NATURAL PARK
It is the unmistakable historical landscape reproduced in the tables of many painters of the fifteenth century, perhaps you will notice it just come to the shores of the lake, abducted by the colors and beauty of the landscape.
The Park, included in the territory of Castiglione del Lago, Magione, Passignano, Tuoro and Panicale, covers an area of 13,200 hectares, including the three islands. Place of interest for birdwatching activities is The Oasis “La Valle”, a stopover and nesting stop for thousands of birds along the main migratory routes with an interesting observatory walkway on the lake. The Oasis is open all year round, with guided tours, autonomous with audioguides and in addition to having a bird ringing station.
